*Support navigation of Special Education law and procedural safeguards related to a Free and Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) in an inclusive setting
*Review Special Education program components for quality services in the Individual Education Program (IEP)
*Support the development of a 504 Accommodation Plan
*Strengthen partnerships with school teams to maximize student growth
*Help prepare for IEP meetings to determine appropriate services after remote learning during the 2020-21 school year
*Review IEP documents and progress data to determine appropriate goals and placement
*Attend and facilitate meetings, including IEP meetings, 504 accommodation meetings, and school team meetings
*Provide professional development or program reviews for educators/districts
Sarah Drinkwater, PhD., is a dedicated Special Educator with program management experience at the state and school district levels. She is knowledgeable about services for students experiencing disability from preschool through post-secondary. She has worked with children and students with a variety of disabilities, including students eligible for 504 Plan accommodations. Working collaboratively, with respect, is key to her success in the field.
Dr. Drinkwater is experienced in mediation and due process procedures, having participated in hearings (cases) and resolution sessions at the district/administrative law judge level, as well as civil actions in state and federal court.
Dr. Drinkwater has both Doctorate and Master's degrees in Special Education from the University of Oregon. Her 33-year educational career includes positions as Executive Director of Student Services, Director of Special Education, Assistant Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent of Student Services for the State of Oregon. She has taught Master's level Special Education courses at the University of Oregon, the University of Washington and the University of Nevada, Reno.
